Welcome to this place . “This place” being where an avid fashion lover, former 3D animator, and current “where is my mind?” stay-at-home mom seeks sanity through creativity (and shoes).
Of farm grown stock, branded “South African goods”, packaged and processed into a humour-loving lunatic who gallivants through Gangsta’s Paradise (aka Johannesburg) accompanied by a string bean, aΒ toddling acrobat and furball with a penchant for poo.
Join me while I ramble on about stuffΒ and document other stuff, aspiring to one day be classed as Etsy sale goods.
“Kokkewiet” – a small green and yellow South African bird, also my nickname.

I have a Jay but he is 11 :), I am totally obsessed with Magpies, hey we are bird friends!! I just made that up, I don’t think it makes sense π

Hahahaha! How a bout “birds of a feather”? π
My Jay is actually “Jarrod”, but he goes by “Jay” which makes no sense.

Sounds nicer then Jarrrrr π

“Birds in Boots.” Could be a good name for a rock band! Aloha and a Maltese salute to Chewbacca from Max and thanks for visiting our silly dog blog.

That would be brilliant! Ha ha!
Your blog is far from silly, I think it’s great.

A 3D Animator? Wow! That’s class! I just dabble in photoshop. I don’t think I’ll ever come around to trying out 3D. You also draw beautifully.

3D is quite a mission, I wont lie. It takes a while to become proficient whereas you can start having fun A LOT sooner with Photoshop π
Thanks for the compliment! Your caricatures are fabulous π

Thanks Kyly. Just did the header to include some of my caricatures. I tried 3D, many years agoβ¦but gave up.

If you ever feel the urge to get back into 3D then I suggest “Digital Tutors”. Their tutorials are the best we’ve seen and helped us change completely from one software package to another just by teaching ourselves (my husband and I) π
They don’t only focus on 3D but all creative computer packages. They rock the party. The education we got from them was way better than our college course (but then again, this is South Africa π ).

Wow! That’s some recommendation. Those guys must be really good. I’ll check them out. I may have a couple of easy months during wintersβ¦Thanks for telling me about them. Do they train you on Blender? I have it loaded on my machine, but it looks formidable.

Yes, the do Blender π
Their tutorials start RIGHT from the beginning which is fantastic π
Good luck and let me know what you think if you do try them out π

I will let you know π I’ve tried breaking my head with Blender – I think it’s more complex than 3D Studio Max, which I tried my hand at some 8 years back.

Well, if Digital Tutors can’t help I’ll be surprised. I did Max a million years ago in college, when I look at it now it seems so confusing. I think any 3D program that isn’t the one you’ve been working in will look like a bunch of hieroglyphics π
I managed to move from Maya into Softimage XSI. Now THAT was a mind blow π
And now Autodesk have discontinued XSI. Bastards. I’m probably going to end up having to learn Houdini or (gasp!) Maya again if I ever want to get back into the freelance world. (Maya is a ball-ache. Even if you don’t have balls π )

Thanks Kyly. I feel oddly relieved to know that others too have struggled with 3d. I thought I was the only one who found it difficult.

Hi Charlotte, thanks so much! That would be my third one to date, hee hee. I just haven’t had time to do anything about any of my nominations. I seem to have less and less time π¦

I hear you – it’s a nice thing but it does take quite, a bit of time to complete! So no worries either way!! (You have a small child, right? So, what’s this thing called “time?”)

Time? Yes, I have a distant memory of that amazing and underrated property. Oh how I look forward to the day I get to taste it’s sweetness once more. I’m doubtful though, kids hang around for quite a while don’t they? π
